Oh hell, the girl is crazy
Who’d prefer to stay at home and play Age of Empires rather than go to a party? ME!
Well… to make myself seem like less of a dork, the party was going to be pretty damn lame, and Age of Empires is the best thing created ever.
It’s a kind of funny story, actually, my love affair with AoE. I think I encountered it first at a friend’s house in about 4th grade, and it was so fantastically awesome that I needed to buy it. For some reason, though, I got hold of the less awesome version, i.e. the one with the Greeks and the Byzantines and stuff.
Pros of AoE 1: Elephants, lions, war elephants.
Pros of AoE 2: Everything.
You can see why I was upset with myself. Still, I played it like crazy anyway, and then got my sister hooked on it, and had fun making stupid shit like Gaia Island*.
Anyway as I got older and less awesome I stopped playing…until last night. LAN party + AoE = BITCHIN. So yeah. And I have it installed and just kicked butt as the Goths AND the Spanish.
*Gaia Island: a big island where a lot of animals live. If you type the cheat where you play as nature, it’s pretty damn awesome. There are shallows lined with thousands of crocodiles linking Gaia Island to three others which are played by the computer. Whichever civlization sacrifices enough villagers to get through the crocodiles to get to the island first wins! It was hilariously fun, for some reason.
